After the disappearance of the last French brands of prestige (Talbot & Waters), they are the “Forging mills and Engineering departments of the Eure and the Loire” (Facel), which took the initiative to create cars of great luxury and sport which were missing in the national production.
In 1953 its creator Jean Daninos decides to call this car FACEL, but it is necessary to give it a more specific name: a first name, for that the owner asked his brother Pierre Daninos (writer humorist)  who suggests the name of one of most brilliant star, symbol of power and prestige: VEGA

Described as the most beautiful French luxury car of  the after war, Facel II was drawn in 1959 by Jean Daninos, owner of firm FACEL VEGA and furthermore brother of the writer Pierre Daninos.
Its line, of a rare elegance and its very powerful engine 8 Chrysler cylinders of 355 DC, enabled it to approach 240 km/h.
Its very high selling price allowed it to be reserved only to the elite. Among the 184 chosen few who became its purchasers, the member of Beatles Ringo Star and the Shah of Iran.
This very rare model of FACEL VEGA HK2 was offered to Prince Rainier by Monsieur Victor Pastor at the beginning of the Nineties.
