Chrysler Imperial

The Imperial is the top-of-the-range model from Chrysler, it includes the best innovations in comfort and in ease of use which a top-of-the-range American car could have in 1956.
That one year in an Imperial, besides having an elegant car, the driver benefited from electric windows, air conditioning, a braking and a power-assisted steering.
World innovation for the year 1956,“Chrysler and Philco” offer in option a transistor radio. The Imperial was one of the first standard vehicles to receive this accessory, which is so common nowadays.
Obviously the innovations are also applied to the power unit, the engine gains in capacity (5.8 liters) like in power compared to the previous year to reach 280 cv.
The models of this year also benefited from an automatic gear box ordered by simple pressure on pushbuttons on the instrument panel, called transmission “Powerflite”.
